On Saturday, June 17, the 42nd Annual Ravenden Springs Reunion was held at the old schoolhouse. More than 100 people from eight states enjoyed a potluck lunch and visits with old friends and classmates. Ten members of the class of 1967 were present to mark the 50th anniversary of their graduation. They included: Ann Olson Gray, Virginia Mitchell Goff, Darlene Boucher Hutsell, Janis Hawkins Dust, Steve Crawford, Allen Huddle, Curtis Rush, Earl Goodsell, Doug Wells and Doug MarriottMinnie Iva Jenkins McNabb, 1924-2017. Minnie Iva was known to her family and friends as a loving, compassionate, devoted Christian who lived her life with integrity and loyalty towards all people near and far. Her fear of imperfection made lying or deception an impossibility and impressively "gossip or hearsay" was not a sourced subject she ever partook in. She read and retained the entire bible front to back multiple times and could quote scripture like she was reading from the text. She married Alton "Dooley" McNabb when she was 18 but was later divorced. She had two children, Frank Lesley and Ivy Hansford McNabb whom both preceded her in death. She was a hard working single mother who graduated from high school and completed 1 year of college only to go on to be a secretary for the US Navy and retire from First Baptist Church of Algiers' Bookstore in the late 1980's. Minnie loved her family with every ounce of her being and always sought out to bring peace and unity to anyone with conflict. She made the best homemade dinner rolls and pressed peanut butter cookies around and she loved to call her grandchildren by the dogs name when she got flustered. Susie, Stetson, Endea Ann...I mean Toni Leigh. This woman was a true testament of faith and godliness and we know she is soaring in the heavens with her mother, father, siblings, children and niece, Hilda "Boo".
