Sidney E. "Sid" Coxwell

Sidney Earle "Sid" Coxwell, born January 1, 1935, in Jackson, Alabama to Jenkins and Maggie Neal Pugh Coxwell, died August 31, 2016 at 81 years old in Amite, Louisiana on the same day, 42 years after he met the love of his life, his wife, "Cookie." After his high school graduation, he entered the U.S. Marines Corp until 1956, then enrolled in the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Sid became Vice President of Baird Steel in Mobile, AL, then moved to Amite to work at Ross Steel Works. He retired from Ameristeel, Atlas Steel and Wire Division, Harahan, LA as their Division Sales Manager in 2003, after 28 years. Sid is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jessie Lynn "Cookie" Currier Coxwell; his daughters, Cynthia Leigh "Cindy" Coxwell Konzelman, Amite, and Lynne Marie Coxwell, Baton Rouge; his son and daughter in law, Charles and Paula Coxwell, Mobile, AL and grandchildren, Tyler and Destiny Coxwell and surrogate daughter, Antje Ruppin McDowell, Asheville, NC. He is also survived by a sister and brother in law, Annette and George Woodyard, Choctaw, OK; a brother in law, Camile Currier, Monroe, LA; two sisters in law, Gail Coxwell, Mobile, AL and Gayle Currier, Amite, LA; two longtime family friends, Sue Thompson, Loganville, GA and Robin Holstead Currier, Bryan, TX, and many more relatives and friends, who he adored and loved. Sid is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Christopher Coxwell and Curtis "Corky" Coxwell; his in laws, Joseph "Jo Jo" and Vera Warren Currier; his brother, Thomas Jenkins Coxwell; and his son in law, Dennis Konzelman. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 5 PM until 8:30 PM on Friday and from 8 AM until 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 3, 2016. Religious Services at St. Helena Catholic Church at 11 AM on Saturday. Services conducted by Fr. Mark Beard. Interment Amite Memorial Gardens, Amite, LA. Pallbearers will be Tyler Coxwell, Camile Currier, Tommy Lee Coxwell, Matt Coxwell, Mike Lee, and Darrell Michael.
