Memorial service to be held at Amite Community Center Saturday, July 15 from 1-3 p.m. Marcella Marie Jackson Robin, of Amite, LA, died of natural causes while visiting her daughter in Huntsville, AL on June 2, 2017. She was 70 years old. A graduate of Amite High School class of 1964, Marcella was in the band and choir. Her love of music and the arts continued throughout her life. She attended LSU and there she met her future husband, Carl Anthony Robin. She made her residence in Hammond where she and her husband owned Robin’s TV and VCR Service for 25 years. Marcella was an avid fan of glassblowing, reading, gardening, and poker, and she was a fierce feminist. She moved back to her hometown of Amite in 2006 and began giving back to the community she grew up in. Marcella worked at City Hall and was treasurer of the Amite Arts Council and a member of the Stem and Stamen Club. A wonderfully grumpy woman, Marcella will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents Mario Sarrio Jackson and Wirt Womack Jackson, and sister Vivian Stiles. She is survived by two brothers and their spouses: Robert Roy Jackson and Barbara Williams Jackson, and William Welles Jackson and Susan Rupp; sister and spouse, Rowanna Jackson and Michael J. Currier; daughter Whitnye Robin Rose, of Huntsville, AL; three sons and their spouses: Jason Jarrod Robin and Rachael Grimsley Hunter, of Baton Rouge, Joshua Jackson Robin and Dana Eldridge Robin, of Baton Rouge, and Andrew Anthony Robin and Collette Dufrene Robin, of Hammond; and seven grandchildren: Sage, Eden, Latham, Aiden, Caleb, Django, and Sophia Claire. A memorial service in her honor will be held Saturday, July 15, 2017 at The Amite Community Center from 1-3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Amite City Arts Council. Berryhill Funeral Home assisted the family.
